Just be you photo for blog

Sometimes living in the world we live in isn’t always easy. A culture that is all about the number of followers you have on social media and tapping into the latest trends so you can be in the “in crowd”.  And even when you feel just a little bit different, it can feel isolating when you don’t look like everyone else’s perfect square on Instagram.

But the truth is, God made you unique for a reason. He made you with a personality and perspective that can bring light into the dark corners of the world and modern culture. I know embracing everything you are, flaws and all, is not always easy, but when you stand out from the crowd, that is actually when your light shines the brightest.

This song reminds you that being set apart is a thing to celebrate and God wants us to be different and not like the rest of the world. He wants you to just be you

Hope you enjoy this song and it encourages you to not be like everyone else and embrace who you are in Christ.

Intro:

No one can do it just like you

Something magic in the way you move

You’re original, you know it’s true

Don’t let anybody take your tune

You ain’t got a single thing to prove

You’re original so just be you

Just be you

You’re one of a kind

A kind of once in a lifetime

Not just another face in the crowd

You light up a room

With the light that’s inside you

Don’t be afraid to let it out

So hold your head up

Don’t let anybody get you down

The most beautiful thing about you is that no one else is exactly who you are.

I love the quote, “No one is you and that is your superpower.”

I love these lyrics because they do a beautiful way of reminding you that you can just be yourself. You can be an original in a world of copies.

I have turned to this song many times when I needed to be reminded of just that. You are a one of kind and it is amazing that God looked at you and made you with unique qualities and talents that only you can do. You may have friends that like some of the same things as you but you do it differently because no one is the same.

I love that even twins have different fingerprints. God makes everyone different for a reason and it is beautiful.

Especially when you are young, I know it can be scary to be different than your peers around you. I’ve been there. But embracing everything you are and being confident in yourself, there is a freedom to be found in that.

Next Lyrics:

You gotta believe

You’re here for a reason

This world needs somebody like you

‘Cause anybody can be a copy

And there will always be people talking

So face your fears and chase your dreams

And dance like no one’s watching

Sometimes when we face rejection in life, it can really hurt. It can feel like something is wrong with us. It can feel as if we are not good enough.

But rejection can be deceiving. It can lead to thoughts that are not real and are lies. The truth is God needs you to embrace who you are because the world needs what you have to offer.

It’s hard to be rejected by people you can care about and it is hard to not be accepted by others. People are going to judge you sometimes and not understand you. It isn’t easy but I know I would rather be my authentic self the way God made me and show that than have regrets not being true to myself and chasing my own dreams. Even if no one else understands it or you, it does not matter, because God understands and that is all the understanding you need.

Be the one that stands out, because God made you to be “different” for a reason.

Chorus repeats X 2

Ends with:

Just be you..

It can be easy to get caught up in people’s opinions and judgements of us. It can be even easier to lose ourselves in this hurried culture we live in. But I have found the best thing we can do is embrace who you are for all that you are. The best thing we can do is grow from our mistakes and be aware of when we need to grow and also when we need to not pay attention to the sea of opinions we hear everyday. Don’t be afraid to listen to God and be exactly who He made you to be.

You’re an original and just be you, always ❤

Verses Relating to the song:

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. -Psalm 139:14

What is the price of two sparrows–one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

The LORD gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”  -Jeremiah 1:4-5

I hope you know how precious you are in God’s sight and how much He cares about what worries you and what your passions are. He created you unique on purpose and He will bless you abundantly in this life if you just trust Him.

Don’t ever be afraid to be different, especially for following Jesus. If you have been struggling with confidence or just struggling with circumstances in this area, I hope this can be a beautiful reminder for you to just be you, because God loves who He made you to be. Give yourself grace and step into the Lord’s love for you.

Hope you give this song a listen and enjoy.

All for Jesus,

Steph

  1. This is a great song! I heard it a long time ago and actually have forgotten about it. I feel as if I’m hearing it for the very first time again. Thank you for sharing this and for such a wonderful reminder that we are all uniquely made and no one person is the same. It’s beautiful to think about really!
