This song is powerful! I just love this song so much. When I hear this song, I feel my worth and purpose in Jesus and feel this is mine and every believers feelings and view on our faith walk.
We are here as Jesus’s messengers and to spread the gospel. We all have a unique story of how we became believers in the one true King of Heaven.
We are all imperfect but have a perfect God. We may feel we don’t measure up to Jesus and some days can feel defeated for not measuring up to how we should be as believers, but that is why we have Jesus to look to. He is flawless, loving, and so good to us. Our lives are all about glorifying Him.
I hope you enjoy this powerful song and feel empowered to go to Jesus as you are if you have not before and spread the gospel.
Let’s make Heaven crowded.
Intro:
Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life I’ve been told I belong
At the end of the line
With all the other not-quites
With all the never-get-it-rights
But it turns out they’re the ones You were looking for
All this time
I love how this song starts out and I feel it is the thoughts I have had before.
It truly is amazing how Jesus chooses us and continues to choose us after messing up, making mistakes, and sinning against Him. His love is nothing like I’ve ever experienced before.
I feel that is one of the most amazing things I have learned about Jesus, from reading scripture. It is shown time and time again, that He does not care about perfection, or if you are a sinner; that is exactly who Jesus chooses and looks for. The ones that need direction, that need love, and need His grace.
Chorus:
‘Cause I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
These lyrics speak for themselves. This is how I feel and exactly why I have this blog.
I simply and deeply want to point others to Jesus because all I have personally experienced Him do in my life. The endless love and His still voice guiding me home, is something I want everyone to experience.
This blog is not about me but Jesus. That is what I am living for.
Next Section:
Moses had stage fright
When David brought a rock to a sword fight
You picked twelve outsiders nobody would have chosen
And You changed the world
Well the moral of the story is
Everybody’s got a purpose
So when I hear that devil start talking to me saying
“Who do you think you are?”
I say:
Chorus Repeats
My favorite part about bible stories is seeing the people that God chose to have a great impact on people. When you think of someone having an impact on thousands of people and a deep, purposeful legacy, you probably think of somebody that has a ton of followers, that everybody knows.
But the most amazing thing about Jesus, is He picks the person that is invisible to everyone else and most of the time has not had experience or is “qualified” for the job.
He chooses people that have doubts with not much influence.
But that is the beauty of all these bible stories: it shows you and me, like these lyrics say, that everyone has a purpose.
It does not matter who you are, who your family is, what your societal status is, you have a purpose far beyond anything you’ve ever imagined because you belong to Christ. He can use you in unimaginable ways.
We can learn so much from these people that God chose in the bible and apply it to our own lives.
They are the greatest lessons we will ever learn and they are sitting inside your bible:
Joseph, Moses, Noah, David, Daniel, Ruth, Jesus’s 12 disciples, and so many others, did not feel special or qualified. They did not have influence. What they did have was hard times, pain, people ignoring them, abuse, people laughing at them and deep rooted insecurities.
What they did have was God’s favor on them and they were chosen to live out God’s glorious plans.
So, when you hear the enemy telling you lies that you do not have purpose and you are not qualified for this or that, you can stand firm in the truth, that you are chosen, loved, and favored by the most high God.
God is not looking for the most popular or influential people.
He is looking for the ones that love Him wholeheartedly and have a servant’s heart for others.
God does not call the qualified but qualifies the called.
Last Section of Lyrics:
So let me go down, down, down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of a family
And if they all forget my name, well that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
Whenever I hear a pastor say this or a song or read in the bible that Jesus went to the cross and endured so much pain so I can have an intimate relationship with Him, it makes me emotional.
The fact that He wanted my heart that He laid down his life and literally bled to death so we could all be called His children and be written in his book as believers.
It really is so beautiful.
There is nobody like Jesus, that’s why everything I do, I want to live for Him.
I’m living for the world to see, there’s nobody but Jesus.
Verses Incorporated in the Song:
“While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with Him and his disciples. When the pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ On hearing this, Jesus said, ‘It is not the healthy who needs a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice, For I have not come to call the righteous, but the sinners.” – Matthew 9:10-12 (NIV)
“Moses said to the Lord, “pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue. The Lord said to him, ‘who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” – Exodus 4: 10-12 (NIV)
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.” -Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)
“In him we were also chosen, having predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will..– Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)
I hope you can see through these specific bible verses and this song that Jesus came to earth for a specific reason; a powerful reason. And that we have such purpose here and we all can be used by God and be God’s light in this world.
I hope you give this song a listen if you haven’t heard it and I pray it encourages you!
All for Jesus,
Steph
