I recently heard this song for the first time and it has easily become one of my new favorites. The beat and melody feels so good to me and every time I hear it, it makes me feel so much peace. It reminds me of the ever present goodness of our God and how much He delights in taking care of us. I know and have felt with everything inside of me, that I truly do not have to worry because God is right by side taking care of it all.
I hope you draw encouragement through this song and if you have been longing for peace and a reminder of God’s deep love for you, this is the best song to listen to.
Let every word sink in and thank Jesus for loving us with a fierce kind of love.
Enjoy!
Intro:
The sparrow’s not worried about tomorrow
Or the troubles to come
The lily’s not thinking about the seasons
The drought or the flood
The tree that’s planted by the water
Isn’t phased by the fire
So why should I be?
I love how this song references all the things in nature. The birds, the animals, the trees, and the flowers all do not worry about their surroundings and the circumstances of each day. I love how it says, “the tree that’s planted by the water isn’t phased by the fire..” Meaning fire cannot touch water, so it has no reason to worry because the water is protecting it.
I feel we can directly relate that to how if we are planted in God and our faith in Him, we do not need to be phased by the “fires” around us.
If a small bird is not worried about tomorrow, who does not have Jesus, but we do, why should I be worried about tomorrow?
Chorus:
‘Cause you take good care of me
You take good care of me
You know what I need before I even ask a thing
And you hold me in your hands
With a kindness that never ends
I’m carried in your love, no matter what the future brings
Yeah, you take good care of me
We do not need to worry, just like all the things/animals in nature, because God takes such good care of us.
I love these lyrics because I find them to be so true in my life. God knows what we need before we even ask a thing when talking to Him. He is above us and knows our hearts better than we know ourselves. So, we can trust that the one who created us and knows us so intimately, knows what to bless us with and how to get us through everything.
He holds your very life and every miniscule detail in His hands, with immense love and kindness.
We truly do not have to worry because God loves us and will always take care of us.
Next Section:
The sun’s not worried about the winter
‘Cause soon it will pass
The light’s not thinking about the darkness
Or the shadow it cast
A heart that’s planted in forgiveness
Doesn’t dwell in the past
So why should I be?
I love how these lyrics take specific things and show its confidence and peace in life:
The sun does not worry about winter because it knows its own intensity and light, and knows that winter is just a season.
The light does not think about darkness because it shines and is light itself and is greater than darkness. It has a confidence that cannot be shaken by the dark.
A heart that is planted in forgiveness, does not dwell in the past, because that heart knows the redemptive, freeing love of Jesus, who taught him/her to forgive, so there is no reason to dwell on the hurts of the past.
Just like the sun, we do not have to worry about the “winter” seasons in our own lives because we have a faith that we can be so confident in. We have a peace that is found in the presence of God. We have the promise of Jeremiah 29:11, “ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future..”
And so many more beautiful promises from a faithful, loving God, so why should I be worried?
Chorus repeats
Next Section:
I know there must be more
But I can’t get past your kindness
I know there’s got to be more
But I can’t get past your goodness
I know there must be more
But I can’t get past your kindness
I know there’s got to be more
But I can’t get past your goodness
You take good care of me
You take good care of me
You know what I need before I even ask a thing
You hold me in your hands
With a kindness that never ends
I’m carried in your love, no matter what the future brings
Oh, you take good care of me
I know I can never get past God’s goodness and kindness. It overwhelms me in the most amazing way and to me, there is nothing better than that feeling in God’s presence.
It’s beautiful to know that I am carried in His love, knowing He is taking good care of me.
Verses Incorporated/Related to the Song:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? – Matthew 6: 25-27 (NIV)
“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers” –Psalm 1:4 (NIV)
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” – Proverbs 31:25 (NIV)
“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” – Psalm 100:5 (NIV)
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
I truly pray for anyone who needs peace, love, and confidence of this hope we put in our faith in God, that you draw that encouragement and reassurance through this song, like it did for me.
Whatever you may be going through in your life right now, please now that you are not alone and God is taking good care of you and your situation.
Music has always been an escape for me but when I found Christian music it was more than an escape, it was a place to worship Jesus, to learn about who Jesus is, to cry to, and to meditate on God’s word through these beautiful songs. When I feel overwhelmed by my circumstances, I go to one of my safe places, which is in my headphones and escape to the world of music.
I hope you meditate on the lyrics of this song because it is the truth of who God is and how much He loves you and takes care of you. Even if you do not feel like God is taking care of you in your current circumstances, He is.
I hope you give this song a listen and enjoy this Music Monday.
All for Jesus,
Steph
