Music Monday: God is in this story

Have you ever felt like you wanted to rip pages out of your life story?

I know I have wanted to. Sometimes it feels like moments in our story can feel so broken, they start to make you feel like you are in fact broken. But that is not the truth. The most beautiful part about becoming a follower of God, is He is with you always and He then goes a step further and works all the broken chapters in your life story for good. Because He is that good. Your story is never too far gone because God is a god who redeems. You are never alone and he is within the highs and lows with you. This song is a great encouragement of this beautiful truth and can remind you that those pieces you view as broken, are not really broken when you have God. I hope you enjoy this song and my thoughts on it.

Intro:

There’s torn-up pages in this book

Words that tell me I’m no good

Chapters that defined me for so long

But the hands of grace and endless love

Dusted off and picked me up

Told my heart that hope is never gone

We can feel defined by words that are said about us by others and moments in our lives that have been hurtful. But the real truth and definition of who you are lies in Jesus’s heart. Our true identity is a Child of God. And if you don’t know what all that means and the value it holds, I encourage you to get into the word and learn what it means to be a child of His. Because just like these lyrics say, he has endless love and grace for you and views you through eyes of love. It may seem too good to be true, but that is what it is to be loved by Him. It is not a love the world gives and that love can cover over those wounds and hurtful words said in the past.

Chorus:

God is in this story, God is in the details

Even in the broken parts, He holds my heart, He never fails

When I’m at my weakest, I will trust in Jesus

Always in the highs and lows, the One who goes before mе

God is in this story

I feel like these lyrics really say it best. We can rest knowing that God is in all the details of our lives and holds our hearts. He is a good God with kindness and compassion for our lives. We can trust Him and that brings so much peace.

Next Section:

So if the storm you’re walkin’ through

Feels like it’s too much and you

Wondеr if He even cares at all

Well, hold on tight to what you know

He promised He won’t let you go

Your song of healing’s written in His scars

Sometimes life’s storms can feel very heavy and hard to go through. But one of the greatest treasures and gifts we hold as believers, is knowing that God is with us and he cares so much. All of His promises stand true and we can find true rest in Him. Jesus paid so much when he went to the cross for us and I think we can lose sight of how monumental that really was. All of our healing is in His scars from that day and holds so much love and hope for our lives and eternity. God really is a gift and we should be so grateful to have access to a loving relationship with our creator because of Jesus.

Chorus Repeats

Bridge lyrics:

If it reads like addiction, if it reads like disease

He’s the One who frees the prisoner, He’s the healer of all things

If it reads like depression, if it reads broken home

He’s the One who holds your sorrow, He won’t leave you here alone

With addiction or physical illness or coming from a broken family, it can feel like we are stuck and it can define us. But there is so much freedom and healing in our savior. He can bring healing to all things. I know personally, this gives me so much joy and hope. He cares and wants to restore things in our lives.

Chorus repeats

I hope you know that God is right with you day to day and never leaves your side. If you are going through a season that is challenging, I understand and have so much empathy for you, because we all have been there, multiple times. I hope this song can be a source of comfort and hope. And I know what helps me is looking back at my life and truly being able to see what God did and trace His hand on my specific circumstance. When we look back for those reasons, we know that God was faithful then and He is faithful now too. Trust His character and rely on Him and you will feel peace even in the unknown and challenging. God is in your story ❤

All for Jesus,

Steph
