Music Monday: I Know

Music Monday’s Song:

I Know by Big Daddy Weave

I recently heard this song for the first time and I fell in love with it.

The lyrics are so moving and I feel its true to the different emotions and seasons that people walk through in life.

There are ups and downs to everyones life, and at times the challenges can pile up and become overwhelming.

But amidst the challenges and sorrows we walk through in life, there is one calming constant: Jesus.

While it is completely normal and natural to feel different emotions, we do not have to walk through it being afraid or alone. Jesus is always walking right there with us.

Through everything, God is always good. That is the essence of this beautiful, encouraging song and I hope you enjoy this music breakdown.

You don’t answer all my questions

But you hear me when I speak

You don’t keep my heart from breakin’

But when it does, you weep with me

You’re so close that I can feel you

When I’ve lost the words to pray

And though my eyes have never seen you

I’ve seen enough to say

I love how this song is written, like someone is talking to God.

It starts out saying the their is sometimes mystery behind God and the different ways that He works. We won’t always know the “why” behind why certain things happen to us, but we know that we have a loving Father in heaven that is always with us and empathizing with us.

I know that you are good

I know that you are kind

I know that you are so much more

Than what I leave behind

I know that I am loved

I know that I am safe

Cause even in the fire to live is Christ, to die is gain

I know that you are good

Beyond experiencing difficult circumstances in life, we know ultimately who God is and the character he has.

We know that we can trust Him through it all, because He is good and kind and promises all who believe the abundant life they will experience when we deny our ourselves and follow Him.

Personally what helps me when I am walking through something difficult, is speaking Gods promises over my life and the things that God says I am. When I say out loud that I am loved by God and I am safe in His arms, my troubles start to pale in comparison to who I am in Christ and the pure gift it is to simply be His.

Next Section:

I don’t understand the sorrow

But you’re calm within the storm

Sometimes this weight is overwhelming

But I don’t carry it alone

You’re still close when I can’t feel you

I don’t have to be afraid

And though my eyes have never seen you

I’ve seen enough to say

Everything changes when we give our heart and life to Jesus.

As a believer, we know that we will not be immune to difficulties in this life, but we will never walk through them alone, which can change our perspective on it all.

His peace and presence surround us like a light and we never have to be fearful because He is always with us, closer than the air we breathe.

I love how it says, “though my eyes have never seen you, I’ve seen enough to say..”

We don’t get to see Him physically or see His face, like when we are talking to a friend, or a significant other, but we have seen miracles He has performed in our own lives and that is beautiful evidence of His love for us and the mighty power he possesses.

Chorus Repeats

Next Section:

On my darkest day

From my deepest pain

Through it all, my heart, will choose to sing your praise

On my darkest day

From my deepest pain

Through it all, my heart, will choose to sing your praise

On my darkest day

From my deepest pain

Through it all, my heart, will choose to sing your praise

There is such profound significance in these lyrics. They are repeating I feel for a reason.

We can choose Jesus and who He says he is over our current circumstances.

On our darkest days, we do not have to despair because we have Jesus.

Through our pain, we can choose to rest in Him, His promises, and choose the joy we have in Jesus and be thankful, even for the pain, because Jesus can bring good out of anything and will produce fruit even from darkness.

We can trust Him and His goodness.  His love will never fail us.

*Ends with the Chorus

Verses Incorporated in the Song:

Philippians 1:21 – For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain

This verse is incorporated in the chorus of the song and it is so significant.

This verse is key to a life of a follower of Jesus Christ. As believers, we must follow Christ wholeheartedly and live out the gospel and preach it to others. We are living for Jesus  and even dying for Jesus. Our deaths can bring glory to our Father and dying is a gain as a believer because we get to finally be face to face with Jesus and spend eternity with Him, so we do not need to fear challenges in this life. There is always better to come.

Psalm 63: 3-4 – Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

John 13:7 – Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I hope you give this song a listen and draw encouragement through it.

Hope you have a blessed week!

All for Jesus,
